The stars of the Foundation\u2019s main initiative, the Efigy Girls, met with the Chairman of Naturgy, Francisco Reyn\u00e9s, who learned first-hand about the girls\u2019 technology projects in this year\u2019s <em>FIRST LEGO League<\/em> Spain competition.<\/p>\n<p>The STEAM Alliance works to foster concrete initiatives that contribute to shaping an educational system where gender stereotypes are no longer associated with certain vocations and professions and which supports female empowerment in STEAM disciplines from an early age in education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing part of the STEAM Alliance highlights the work that the Naturgy Foundation has been doing for many years to bring the world of new energy technologies to children and young people throughout Spain, and in particular to foster female talent\u201d, said Reyn\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Support for STEAM disciplines and the Efigy Girls<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The energy company\u2019s chairman attended a hybrid in-person and digital event to meet with the more than 160 girls sponsored by the Naturgy Foundation who are participating in this year&#39;s Girls First initiative of the <em>FIRST LEGO League<\/em> Spain. The competition, launched by the Scientia Foundation in Spain, encourages interest among young students in science and technology.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second year in which eight teams, who call themselves the Efigy Girls, are backed by the Naturgy Foundation to take part in the competitions held throughout Spain. Two of the teams, one from Las Acacias-Montecastelo (Vigo, Pontevedra) and the other from Escola Ull de Vent (La Bisbal del Pened\u00e8s, Tarragona), have qualified for the FIRST LEGO League Spain RePLAY final, to be held on 26 and 27 June, with a thousand groups from all over the country competing.<\/p>\n<p>Two other Efigy Girls groups have also received awards: first prize for innovation went to the Instituto Caterina Albert, from Barcelona, and the coach award went to IES Rego de Trabe, from Culleredo (A Coru\u00f1a). The other teams that have received support from the Naturgy Foundation this year are IES San Vicente (Sant Vicent de Raspeig, Alicante), Instituto Manuel V\u00e1zquez Montalb\u00e1n (Sant Adri\u00e0 del Bes\u00f2s, Barcelona) and Senara and Mar\u00eda Inmaculada (Madrid).<\/p>\n<p>All their projects incorporate energy efficiency and innovation as a key factor in solving the challenges of this edition of the <em>FIRST LEGO League<\/em>, focused on promoting physical exercise to improve people&#39;s well-being and on developing sustainable and efficient spaces and environments for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Almost 200,000 beneficiaries<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Efigy Girls initiative forms part of the Naturgy Foundation\u2019s Efigy Education programme, which brings new energy technologies, efficiency and sustainability to schools.
