This school year, the programme focuses on climate change as well as other related areas, such as renewable energies, water management, air quality and sustainable mobility, or waste management and recycling. Initiatives that reflect the talent, creativity and commitment of girls to major environmental and energy challenges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From this Ministry we are working to achieve a sustainable society and to be better prepared for climate change. It is essential that the talent we have in this country has a vocation to dedicate itself to sectors that contribute to achieving these objectives. Thanks to Efigy Girls for making projects real&#8221;, said Aagesen at the headquarters of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Naturgy Foundation general manager,\u00a0<strong>Mar\u00eda Eugenia Coronado<\/strong>, stressed that &#8220;programmes such as Efigy Girls allow us to awaken technological vocations from an early age and demonstrate that girls can not only imagine solutions for a more sustainable future, but also lead them&#8221;. In the same vein, she pointed out that &#8220;fostering female talent in the STEAM field is essential to successfully face the challenges of the energy transition&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Real projects for the challenges of the future<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students taking part in this visit came from different schools in Andalusia, Catalonia and the Region of Valencia, where the Naturgy Foundation is also implementing the &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionnaturgy.org\/en\/joining-forces-for-valencia\/\">Joining Forces for Valencia<\/a>&#8216; programme, which aims to support recovery after the 2024 flooding.\u00a0The girls explained to the vice-president the challenges they are currently working on, linked to efficient water management, indoor air quality and early warning systems for climate risks, by designing and developing technological prototypes and innovative solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also included a visit to the Ministry&#8217;s facilities and a group photograph, symbolising the shared commitment of public and private institutions to education, equality and the promotion of young talent to achieve the green transition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Efigy Girls, a commitment to equality and female talent<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Efigy Girls is an educational initiative by the Naturgy Foundation for girls aged 10 to 16, aimed at promoting STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics) vocations among girls and young women in schools throughout Spain. The three-year programme proposes a training itinerary based on robotics, innovation and resolving challenges related to energy, sustainability and climate change through innovation, creativity, teamwork and collaboration. The main objectives are to promote an active approach to learning by resolving different situations in the context of sustainability, environment and energy; as well as the development of a deep understanding of global environmental issues, coming to appreciate the impact of their actions on society at large.<\/p>\n<p>The 2025\u20112026 edition involves 24 schools from nine autonomous regions and will end with an event to close the school year in Valencia to share all the group projects,\u00a0demonstrating\u202fthe\u202fsolutions\u202fobtained, thus promoting collaborative learning andpracticalinnovation.<\/p>\n<p>Since its launch, more than 600 students have taken part in the programme.\u00a0Efigy Girls is part of Efigy Education, the Naturgy Foundation educational platform that has brought knowledge about energy and sustainability to more than one million people since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Just Transition Strategy and MITECO&#8217;s Environmental Education Action Plan, and is supported by various educational and scientific institutions.
