Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation promotes the internationalisation of SMEs from the Valencia Region

The first training session of the First Export Programme took place today in Valencia, this project offers free training and advice to SMEs that wish to embark on their first export activity.

Around 550 companies have signed up to the programme so far, of which about 7% are based in the three provinces of the Region.

The initiative represents another step forward in GAS NATURAL FENOSA's commitment to developing the economy, industry and businesses in the Valencia Region.

Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation celebrated the first training session of the First Export Programme in the Valencia Region today at the Ayre Astoria Palace hotel in Valencia, which was attended by the Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (IVACE), and more than 40 entrepreneurs and managers from small- and medium-sized enterprises from across the three provinces.

The First Export Programme is a project run by the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation to provide free training and advice to SMEs from throughout Spanish wishing to embark on export activity for the first time with a comprehensive, free and ongoing training plan. Around 550 companies have signed up to the programme so far, of which about 7% are based in the Valencia Region.

Those attending the session, entitled “First Export: A surmountable challenge for any SME”, listened to an introduction from the Managing Director of the First Export Programme, Emilio Segura, presented various key points to be considered when starting export activity: such as carrying out a self-evaluation of the export capacities of a SME, determining the appropriate input method in the first receiving country and the various product, price, promotion and export distribution policies or SMEs, among others.

Subsequently, the regional director of La Caixa Valencia Foreign Trade, Joan Font, explained to the attendees how to reduce risks concerning foreign trade collection and payment methods through international methods of collection and payment,and the risks and advantages that each one could imply for the exporting business.

Following this speech, the regional director of Iberinform (from the Crédito y Caución Group), José Prieto, gave a detailed presentation on how to identify interesting international markets for each business and the international partners who best fit the exportation strategy of each business.

Finally, the director of the Internationalisation Department of IVACE Internacional, Cristina Villó, talked about the support that this body dependant on the Regional Ministry of Economy, Industry, Tourism and Employment, responsible for boosting the internationalisation of the economy, promoting the exportation of Valencian products abroad and attracting foreign investment to the Valencia Region, offers to businesses in the Region in their processes of internationalisation.

The closing ceremony of this seminar was chaired by the Director General of Internationalisation and IVACE Assistant Director, Mar Casanova, and the Director General of the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation, Martí Solà.

First Export Programme

First Export Programme The First Export Programme run by the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation focuses on lending support to SMEs as they take their first steps towards exporting anywhere in the world through a comprehensive, free and ongoing training plan that includes in-person and online training sessions, as well as personalised advice and mentoring. Participants learn about international marketing, business management and pricing, among other subjects.

The programme launched by the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation in Argentina in 2001 was implemented in Spain for the first time last year. To take part in the programme, interested companies need to provide a CIF (tax ID number) and sign up for the programme on the website: www.fundacionnaturgy.org.

A new initiative from the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation in the Region of Valencia

Implementation of this programme to help SMEs in the Region of Valencia is another step in GAS NATURAL FENOSA's commitment to this region of Spain, where its foundation’s activity contributes to the development of the local economy, industry and businesses, thereby generating wealth, jobs and progress.
