Naturgy Foundation and the Department of Education and Vocational Training will work together to promote employability in the field of energy

The energy company foundation has trained more than 2,000 people in Andalusia over the last two years, including vocational training teachers, students and sector professionals, in subjects related with the energy transition.

Naturgy Foundation will contribute to updating syllabus content for Vocational Training (VT) courses related with energy and youth employability in the energy transition as part of an agreement signed today with the Department of Education and Vocational Training of the Regional Government of Andalusia.

Under its Programme of Vocational Training for employability, the Naturgy Foundation will contribute to transferring knowledge to Vocational Training courses related with energy so as to adapt them to evolving technology innovations and professional skills required in today’s labour market. It will therefore provide courses and train teachers, students and sector professionals in areas such as the environment, energy efficiency and implementing new technologies.

The energy company foundation will provide advice and develop unpublished content to update syllabuses, reinforcing professional and personal skills; collaborate in the training and refresher education of teachers and students; allocate educational material to centres offering training courses related with the energy sector; and offer sessions on future labour trends for students to improve their employability in the sector.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education will promote centres to participate in the activities and encourage teachers to receive teacher training with the updated knowledge offered by Naturgy Foundation. Training provided as part of this collaboration will be recognised, registered and certified by both institutions.

The agreement was signed today by Patricia del Pozo, Minister of Educational Development and Vocational Training of the Regional Government of Andalusia, and by María Eugenia Coronado, Managing Director of the Naturgy Foundation.

Ms del Pozo stressed “the importance of working with companies to design adequate planning that, in addition to training young people in subjects with a future, provide the professional profiles demanded by different productive sectors”.

In the same vein, Ms Coronado said, “vocational training in the energy sector must adapt to the professional skills demanded by sector companies. That is why at Naturgy Foundation we are pleased to add Andalusia to the other eight autonomous regions in which we offer vocational training in energy, with high quality standards and updated according to the latest developments and requirements of the labour market”.

Since 2021, Naturgy Foundation has offered training in Andalusia to 50 Vocational Training teachers and over 2,000 students from 29 centres. It aims to promote this activity in the region with the agreement signed today.

The Naturgy Foundation Vocational Training Programme for Employability

The Naturgy Foundation has made a firm commitment to promoting the training of young people, unemployed people and professionals who would like to update their skills acquisition in line with the technological transformation of the energy sector. Its Vocational Training for employability programme improves the readiness of the sector’s future professionals, facilitating their entry into the labour market.

At national level, since the Programme of Vocational Training for employability was launched, over 63,000 students have already benefited from training received in the eight Autonomous Regions with which Naturgy Foundation has signed collaboration agreements (Madrid, Galicia, Catalonia, Asturias, Region of Valencia, Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha and Extremadura).

The foundation has eight training modules that provide students with state-of-the-art technical knowledge and certification in areas such as sustainable mobility, sustainable rehabilitation and building construction, renewable gasses, digitalisation of electricity networks, power consultation for vulnerable environments, installation and maintenance of solar panels, green and digital gas networks, and sustainability applied to the productive system.

This Naturgy Foundation training opportunity is aligned with the Just Transition Strategy and is recognised and supported by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the administrations responsible for education and employment in nine autonomous regions, the Public State Employment Service (SEPE), the National Training for Employment Foundation (FUNDAE) and the National Qualifications Institute (INCUAL).
