Our Foundation presents its training events for women and groups in vulnerable situations at the Session on Renewable Energies and Territory organised by the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge

In the second of these listening and participation sessions entitled “The Social Dimension of Renewable Projects”, María Eugenia Coronado talked about the professional training events organised by the Naturgy Foundation exclusively for unemployed women, with the aim of promoting equality in access to new jobs linked to the roll-out of renewable energies, environmental conservation and sustainability in sectors that offer new opportunities arising from the energy transition.

In this context, Coronado explained how in 2023 the Naturgy Foundation launched an initial pilot vocational training course in photovoltaic system installation exclusively for unemployed women, in collaboration with the Institute for Just Transition, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Green Employment Platform. Following the success of this pilot project, which resulted in 40% of participants finding employment, the Foundation will launch a further 6 vocational training courses for people who have been affected by the energy transition, are unemployed or are at risk of exclusion. A minimum of 50% of the places on these courses will be reserved for women. These training courses will be specialised in photovoltaic system installation and maintenance, efficient housing rehabilitation and wind farm installation and maintenance.

María Eugenia Coronado stressed the importance of promoting vocational training activities that enable women in vulnerable situations to enter the energy sector. “The energy transition is creating new green job opportunities. Therefore, we need to promote gender-sensitive training to ensure that more women can enter this industry and help close the gender gap in the energy sector”.

At the Listening and Participation Session on Renewable Energies and Territory, the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge launched a public listening and participation process to update knowledge and identify new tools to ensure that the benefits of the ecological transition, and in particular renewable energies, are fairly distributed throughout the country in social and environmental terms.
