The First Export Programme promotes the internationalisation of SMEs from the Region of Murcia

A training session of the First Export Programme took place today in Cartagena (Murcia), this project offers free training and advice to SMEs that wish to embark on their first export activity from the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation.

Earlier today, the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation held a training day of the First Export Programme at the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Shipping of Cartagena (Murcia), which was supported by the Instituto de Fomento of the Region of Murcia and attended by over 50 business leaders and managers from small- and medium-sized enterprises in Murcia.

The First Export Programme is a project run by the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation to provide free training and advice to SMEs from throughout Spanish wishing to embark on export activity for the first time with a comprehensive, free and ongoing training plan. Since it started, around 80 companies from Murcia have participated, as well as another 50 today.

Those attending the session, entitled “First Export: A surmountable challenge for any SME”, listened to an introduction from the Managing Director of the First Export Programme, Emilio Segura, presented various key points to be considered when starting export activity: such as carrying out a self-evaluation of the export capacities of a SME, determining the appropriate input method in the first receiving country and the various product, price, promotion and export distribution policies or SMEs, among others.

Subsequently, the Foreign Trade Manager for the Region of Murcia from CaixaBank, Francisco Javier Pascual, explained how to reduce risk in the foreign trade billing and payment methods by using international billing and payment methods, and the risks and advantages posed by each one for export companies.

Following this presentation, the International Department Manager from Iberinform (of the Crédito y Caución group), Enrique Fernández, gave a detailed presentation on how to identify interesting international markets for each business and the international partners who best fit the exportation strategy of each business.

Finally, the Regional Trade Manager and Director of ICEX in Murcia (Ministry of Economic Affairs and Competition), Rafael Ortega, and the Head of the Internationalisation and Investments Department of the Instituto de Fomento of the Region of Murcia, Fernando Díaz, presented the support mechanisms offered by these entities for companies in this region undertaking an internationalisation process.
