On 14 March, the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation, in collaboration with the Moroccan Association for Sustainable Development and the Moroccan National School of Applied Sciences (ENSA), opened the conference entitled “Sustainable Region: a challenge, a shared social responsibility” in Tangier. The meeting aims to promote sustainable development in the regions. It also looks to create a space where different public and private figures responsible for creating an environmentally sustainable regional culture can exchange knowledge and have a discussion.

The opening of the conference took place in the headquarters of the Regional Government of Tangier-Tetouan and was attended by the Mayor of Tangier, Fouad Omari, the Chairman of the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan, Talbi Alami, the Chairman of the Abdelmalek Essaa University, Hodaifa Ameziane, the Director of ENSA in Tangier, Abderrahmane Sbihi and the International Projects Coordinator of the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation, Manuel Beguer, among others.

Over the three days of the conference, different meetings and round tables were organised with national and international experts who discussed the challenges of developing a sustainable regional culture, its impact on the life of companies and their views on the country’s future.

The Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation in Morocco

This conference is part of the partnership agreement the Foundation signed with the National School of Applied Sciences of Tangier in 2008, to promote a culture of sustainable development. The Foundation supports the activities of the Princess Lalla Meryem Institute for autistic children in Tangier, after being involved in its creation.

The Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation's main objective is to help raise awareness and contribute to education on environmental protection in countries where the company operates, as well as promoting projects which make a positive contribution to society due to their content.

With this initiative, the Foundation continues to develop its activities, which are aimed at promoting information, training and awareness in society on boosting energy efficiency and protecting the environment through technological innovations.
