The First Export Programme was founded in Argentina in 2001 to promote internationalisation in the SME sector and aims to facilitate export activity by small- and medium-sized enterprises, improve their ability to form partnerships, and offer free training, advice and follow-up. From last year, the Programme started to be performed successfully in Spain and it will shortly be introduced to Mexico.
Since it was created, over 50,000 Argentinian companies have taken part in the programme, which offers free advice to SMEs who want to export, or turn exporting into a business, through talks and seminars specialising in foreign trade. So far, over 22,000 SMEs have been given advice and more that 28,000 have taken part in one of the 780 seminars. As a result of the training, 1,500 SMEs have become new exporters and 140 companies have taken part in the nine Training and Business Trips organised in Barcelona.
