The Gas Natural Foundation and the University of Bari study the role of forests in climate change

Both organisations signed an agreement to conduct scientific research into this matter and, therefore, contribute to improving the environment.

The director of the Environmental Sciences department at the University of Bari, Angelo Godini, and the International Project Coordinator of the Gas Natural Foundation, Manuel Beguer, signed a partnership agreement to carry out scientific research about “Forests and deforestation in Italy. The actions to mitigate climate change”, coordinated by professors Giovanni Sanesi and Paola Mairota.

The study aims to improve knowledge of forests, bearing in mind their ability to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2), the main cause of climate change.

This agreement is within the collaboration framework signed in February between the Puglia Regional Government and the Gas Natural Foundation, in which both organisations undertake to work together to improve the environment. The Puglia Regional Government has trusted the University of Bari to carry out research projects about economic development and environmental protection.
