The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) presents a book about business innovation
The book “Innovación y empresa: experiencias de innovación en México, España y Latinoamérica” was presented at the Ibero-American University on 17 November. The book analyses the experiences of public and private companies in Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Brazil during the 20th century.
On Tuesday 17 November 2009, the book “Innovación y empresa: estudios históricos de México, España y América Latina” was presented at the Ibero-American University. It was coordinated by Dr. Guillermo Guajardo and published by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Gas Natural Foundation.
The book analyses the experiences of public and private companies in Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Brazil during the 20th century to create new goods and services.
It highlights the cases of Zara, Repsol, Iberia, Sol Meliá, Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo, Techint and regions in Mexico that stand out for their business activity, such as Cancun and La Laguna.
The interest lies in the moments when Mexico experienced growth and innovation difficulties, while Latin America consolidated as an important destination for Spanish investment.
Both phenomena lead to a comparative agenda with Spain, a country that has had similar experiences to Latin America for a large part of the 20th century until the democratic change, structural reforms and integration with Europe separated it from the chasing pack.
The studies in this book show that the progress of the nations is possible through a strategic reform of the State and vocations towards the market, together with political stability and guarantees for work, property and creativity.
The book was discussed by academics in the areas of business and social sciences at the Ibero-American University and UNAM.
The event took place at 6 pm on Tuesday 17 November 2009 in the Ángel Palerm Vich Auditorium, building S at the Ibero-American University, Lomas de Santa Fe, Ciudad de México.
