``Ecological Blue Flag`` Programme (EBF)

The “Ecological Blue Flag” Programme (EBF) is an environmental education program that promotes improvement in the quality of education and the development of projects for the achievement of sustainable development in harmony with the environment.

This programme was established with support from the Institute of Aqueducts and Drainage Systems, the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Telecommunications, the Costa Rican Network of Natural Reserves, the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity, the Ministry of Public Education and the National Chamber of Tourism.

This programme provides the best understanding that a school can obtain with regards to the environment. It explores matters including water management, risk management, environmental education projects, the state of the health services, the comprehensive waste and energy plan, and the energy saving and physical infrastructure plan.

  • Development of an environmental culture in the educational community
  • Physical and infrastructural school improvements
  • Efficient school administration with regards to environmental sustainability

Since the beginning of the program in 2013, a total of 872 children between 6 and 12 years have benefited.

The final objective of this programme is to develop environmental awareness in the future generations at these three educational centres.

The Foundation promotes another year of the Blue Flag of Ecology Programme

This Programme aims to adopt sustainable practices in equilibrium with the environment through educational institutions.
