The gas industry in Galicia: from gas lighting to the 21st century, 1850 – 2005

The history of gas in Galicia began in a distant 1853 when the French entrepreneur, Louis Laty, got the city council of A Coruña to grant him the contract for gas lighting in the city.
In this way, apparently simple, began the first public service, which undoubtedly required a heavy investment and substantial capital to produce an urban improvement of undoubted sociological significance.
