The biogas

Biogas is a combustible gas obtained through processes of degradation of organic matter by microorganisms that act in the absence of oxygen, also called fermentation process or anaerobic digestion. This sheet describes the concentration and purification technologies of landfill, livestock or sewage treatment plants biogas, the process of thermochemical gasification of biomass for obtaining biomethane from synthesis gas and the power to gas for the production of biomethane. The most significant advantages of the use of biogas are presented and several practical cases of its obtaining and use in agricultural activities, its application as a fuel in transport vehicles and its contribution (via injection) to the general natural gas network are presented.
