The role of gas in decarbonising the EU energy system

The purpose of this article is to examine the role of natural gas in decarbonising the EU energy market. The article assumes that the EU will effectively meet its commitments under the Paris Agreement so that complete, or almost complete, decarbonisation of the energy system will have been achieved by 2050. In particular, it covers the specific situation in Spain.
