Naturgy Foundation’s ‘Energy Prescription’ initiative, a pioneer in Spain, aims to help people with electrical medical treatments at home.
These grants are awarded for two purposes:
- Economic, as they help to pay energy bills, increased by the use of electric medical devices in their homes.
- Care for people’s health since this financial support achieves greater adherence to treatment and, therefore, improvements in their health.
The Naturgy Foundation has launched this initiative thanks to collaboration agreements with the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God and the QuirónSalud Foundation.
Hospital San Juan de Dios Aljarafe (Seville)
Main project results:
- At the San Juan de Dios del Aljarafe hospital, 514 solar panels have been installed, 52 of them provided by the Naturgy Foundation. This generates savings of around 30,000 euros, which will be invested entirely by the Hospital over the next five years in financial aid for vulnerable people or those at risk of energy poverty whose recovery and health are affected by their lack of resources.
- This first phase will benefit 19 patients (in total, 53 people in their family environment) suffering from pathologies such as heart failure or obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and who need the help of electrical appliances.
Sagrat Cor Hospital (Barcelona)
Main project results:
- Naturgy Foundation has installed 36 photovoltaic generation modules at the Sagrat Cor Hospital in Barcelona. Savings generated by the panels are already helping four patients who are being treated at home with electrical devices.
