We offer this free-of-charge practical training course aimed at vocational training teachers in Spain, which will prepare you to teach students about the applications and most up-to-date criteria in terms of sustainability in construction and rehabilitation.
This course is certified by the educational authorities and is given by professionals and specialised teachers from the Escola Sert del Collegi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC).

Course aim
This course expands the knowledge of academic professional training by incorporating topics related to applied and practical sustainability. The classes deal with a variety of topics related to sustainability, explained from a practical point of view so that the concepts of energy efficiency, demand, SDG 2030, energy certifications or BIM are included in the syllabus of technical education courses related to building and construction.
The aim of the course is to acquire basic and practical knowledge in 5 areas:
- The building as a whole with the added value of sustainability.
- Obligatory regulations related to construction (CTE – Spanish Technical Building Code) and buildings (ITE – Spanish Technical Building Inspection), SDG 2030 and health and safety on worksites.
- Software tools. BIM.
- Facilities of a building, as well as connected, domotic and management systems.
- Catalogue of construction solutions for facades, roofs, etc. that respect the environment, health and sustainability.
Skills
- Knowledge of a building Parts, operation to be able to take decisions regarding the work.
- Knowledge of the obligatory regulations related to construction (CTE – Spanish Technical Building Code) and buildings (ITE – Spanish Technical Building Inspection), SDG 2030 and health and safety on worksites.
- Knowledge and use of software tools. BIM.
- Knowledge of the facilities in a building, as well as connected, domotic and management systems.
- Knowledge of a catalogue of construction solutions for facades, roofs, etc. that respect the environment, health and sustainability.
Methodology
The sessions can be followed online. The virtual classroom allows for live consultations via chat, and the sessions are recorded so participants can watch them afterwards.
Online sessions follow a presentation format, where the trainer explains the contents of the session, interacting with the participants and answering questions. The sessions will alternate between more practical cases, where participants will present their thoughts on and solutions to previously raised problems, and the learning by doing methodology, where they learn by dealing with real problems.
Recipients
The programme is preferably aimed at vocational training teachers of subjects related to the “Construction and Civil Work” professional family that want to improve their knowledge of sustainable construction and rehabilitation.
They will be given tips and teaching materials in order to be able to transmit what they have learnt to their students.
