The climate targets set by the European Union are very demanding, which makes it necessary to make the transition to renewable fuels. In the absence of agreement on the final model, what is clear is that gas infrastructures are key in this transition process. If we also take into account the intermittency to which renewable energies are subject, a back-up technology is needed, and this role is perfectly fulfilled by natural gas. In addition, there are certain uses that are technically and economically difficult to electrify.
