Energy poverty in Spain. An income-based approach
Energy poverty is an issue of growing interest in social, political and business sectors. The people responsible for public policies are expressing a growing concern over this particular aspect of poverty in the population. The approach by public policies in Spain in recent years falls far short of providing an adequate solution to a problem that is fundamentally not limited to the energy sector. The proposed actions maintain that part of the cost of tackling energy poverty should be financed by the companies in the sector. This approach is incorrect, not only because it is regressive and inefficient but because it fails to seek a solution to the true nature of the problem.
