Today, the Naturgy Foundation announced the winners of the first edition of the Prize for Best Social Energy Initiative which aims to raise the profile of people, organisations and institutions that stand out in the social sector for their energy-related projects.

Housing rehabilitation and improved efficiency must be priority structural measures to eradicate energy poverty

The study ‘Energy Poverty in Europe: a comparative analysis’, which the Naturgy Foundation is presenting today, calls for the implementation of structural measures with a medium- and long-term impact that involve improved energy efficiency, renewable energies and changes to consumers’ energy habits, with the aim of improving polices to combat energy poverty.

The Naturgy Foundation and the Red Cross help over 7,000 vulnerable families with advice, training and energy rehabilitations

The two entities have collaborated for the past three years to develop joint programmes to combat energy vulnerability, a problem that has been worsened this year by the social and economic consequences of the pandemic.
Rehabilitations have been carried out in 350 homes and 4,500 informational workshops have been held, in addition to the advice on energy-related matter provided by volunteers from both organisations.
This year, Naturgy donated over 2 million euros to the Red Cross for the purchase of medical supplies to fight the pandemic.

For the third year in a row, the Naturgy Foundation has renewed its collaboration agreement with Caritas to continue guaranteeing access to energy for thousands of vulnerable families

The energy company’s foundation has carried out over 600 rehabilitations that have benefited 15,000 people, and the Energy School has offered training on energy efficiency to vulnerable households that are receiving help from Cáritas.
A unique initiative will be developed in Ávila as part of this new agreement, bringing together renewable power generation and the improvement of vulnerable people’s employability
